Two numbers follow every player. Experience Level is a lifetime record of play that only ever goes up. Skill Rating is a per-season ladder that moves both ways.

Skill Rating

Separate from Level, and scoped to one competition. It measures placement against the people actually at your table, so it moves both ways. Everyone starts at 1400.
